XY BREAKpoint Sealed Products: Prices, Chase Cards & Where to Buy

Feb 2016XY09

XY BREAKpoint arrived in February 2016 as the ninth XY expansion and the second set built around BREAK evolution cards, the sideways gold-foil cards that stack on top of a Pokémon. It is best remembered for Greninja BREAK, which anchored a competitive deck for two seasons, and for a run of full art EX cards led by Gyarados and Darkrai. BREAKpoint sealed product is a step down in price from Flashfire or Roaring Skies, which makes it one of the more approachable XY booster boxes for a collector who wants the era without a five-figure outlay.

Sealed products for XY BREAKpoint

Booster Box

The 36-pack booster box shows Mega Gyarados and originally retailed near $144. Sealed boxes trade at $2,300–$3,200 in August 2026, but sales are infrequent, on the order of a few per year through tracked channels, so the range is built from a small number of data points. Expect to pay toward the top of it for a box with a clean wrap and to wait for one to appear.

Elite Trainer Box

The BREAKpoint ETB shipped with eight booster packs, sleeves, dice, a coin, energy cards, a player's guide and the storage box. Sealed ETBs are the most consistently traded BREAKpoint product, with recent sales between $600 and $750 and a working range of $600–$850. At roughly $80 a pack that is a better per-pack rate than the booster box, which is unusual and reflects how few boxes come to market.

Booster Packs and Blisters

Ungraded sealed packs sell for $35–$55 each, with the Greninja and Gyarados pack arts slightly ahead of the rest. Three-pack blisters with a coin and promo run $130–$200, and single-pack blisters $45–$70. This is a set where loose packs are still cheap enough that buying them in blisters, which cannot be weighed and reswapped as easily, costs little extra.

Theme Decks

Wave Slasher (Greninja) and Electric Eye (Luxray) were the two 60-card preconstructed decks. Neither includes booster packs, and the Greninja deck is the more collected of the two. Sealed decks trade at roughly $60–$140.

Prerelease Kit

The tournament-only prerelease kit came with a stamped promo and was not sold at retail. Sealed kits are uncommon and usually sell between $120 and $250.

Chase cards and pull rates

Greninja BREAK (41/122) is the card that defined the set. It is only a rare, not a full art, so it is a $10–$30 card raw today, but it is the reason so much BREAKpoint was opened in 2016 and 2017. The value cards are the full art EX cards: Gyarados EX (114/122) and M Gyarados EX (115/122) run $40–$120 raw, Darkrai EX full art (118/122) $50–$150, and Ho-Oh EX full art (121/122) $40–$100. Manaphy EX full art and Zoroark BREAK are modest extras. The single secret rare, a gold trainer card at 123/122, adds a small premium.

Full art EX cards are commonly reported at roughly one or two per box, and the secret rare at roughly one per two boxes. Because the full arts are mid-priced rather than four-figure cards, BREAKpoint boxes do not carry the same lottery premium as the Charizard or Rayquaza sets.

Is XY BREAKpoint worth buying sealed?

BREAKpoint is a value play within the XY era rather than a headline set. A box at $2,500 contains no card that pays for it, so the case for buying sealed is that BREAKpoint boxes are scarce, prices have roughly doubled since 2023, and the set sits between two far more expensive neighbors, which tends to pull laggards upward over time. The counterargument is that demand is driven by era completionists rather than a single iconic card, so it will always trail Flashfire and Evolutions in liquidity. The ETB is the more sensible purchase for most people: it is cheaper, trades more often, and holds its value on the same fundamentals.

How to spot fakes and resealed products

By 2016 the XY booster box wrap had become slightly thicker and clearer than the 2014 film, but it still carries a single vertical back seam and small vent holes, and it should be taut with crisp corners. A wrap with a horizontal seam, no vent holes, or a glossy, heavy feel is a rewrap. The lid on BREAKpoint boxes usually cannot be opened without cutting the wrap, so a box that opens freely has been rewrapped at least once. The ETB is the product to scrutinize: sealed ETBs sell for enough to make resealing worthwhile, and the factory wrap on 2016 ETBs was loose enough that a careful reseal can look convincing. Check that the wrap seam runs along the back, that the inner tray shows no fingerprints or scuffs, and that all eight packs have matching crimp patterns. Loose packs were weighed in this set for the full arts; buy packs in blisters or from sellers who bought by the case.

Where to buy XY BREAKpoint sealed

Local shops that have been open since 2016 sometimes still have ETBs and blisters in the back, and a shop price is usually below the eBay market. Use the card shop directory to find stores near you and ask about XY-era stock. Card shows are the better venue for booster boxes, where you can inspect the wrap before paying. Frequently asked questions

How much is a BREAKpoint booster box worth in 2026?

Sealed XY BREAKpoint booster boxes sell for $2,300–$3,200 as of August 2026. Sales are infrequent, so expect the range to move on a single result.

How much is a BREAKpoint ETB worth?

Sealed BREAKpoint Elite Trainer Boxes trade at $600–$850, with most recent sales between $600 and $750.

What is the most valuable card in BREAKpoint?

Darkrai EX full art (118/122) and the Gyarados EX full arts (114/122 and 115/122) are the top cards, each in the $40–$150 range raw. Greninja BREAK is the most famous card but is not expensive.

What is a BREAK card?

BREAK cards are gold-foil cards printed sideways that evolve from a specific Pokémon and keep its attacks while adding new ones. BREAKpoint was the second set to include them.

How many packs come in a BREAKpoint ETB?

Eight booster packs, plus sleeves, dice, a coin, energy cards and a storage box.

Will BREAKpoint be reprinted?

No. XY expansions are permanently out of print, and the BREAK mechanic has not been revisited, so sealed BREAKpoint will not return.
