Destined Rivals is the tenth main Scarlet & Violet expansion, released in May 2025, and it is the Team Rocket set: Team Rocket's Mewtwo, Moltres, Nidoking and Crobat alongside Cynthia's Garchomp, Ethan's Ho-Oh and Misty's Psyduck. It launched in the middle of the 2025 supply crunch, sold out everywhere on day one, and a Destined Rivals booster box has been the most expensive Scarlet & Violet main-set box ever since. This page covers every sealed product, August 2026 prices, and how to avoid the resealed boxes that follow a set like this.

The 36-pack box had a $161.64 MSRP and never sold at that price outside of pre-orders. Sealed boxes trade at $400–$470 in August 2026, the highest of any Scarlet & Violet main-set box. Demand comes from two directions: collectors chasing the Team Rocket SIRs and players who needed the set for Standard. Retail restocks in late 2025 and early 2026 were absorbed within hours and did little to soften the price.
The ETB includes nine packs, a full-art Team Rocket's Wobbuffet promo, sleeves, dice, markers and a storage box, at $54.99 MSRP. Sealed retail ETBs sell for $120–$145. Because ETBs were restocked more often than boxes, they are the cheaper per-pack way into the set and easier to find at local shops.
The Pokémon Center ETB includes exclusive foil energies and was allocated in very small numbers. Sealed copies trade at $380–$460, close to the price of a full booster box, which makes it the single most collectible Destined Rivals product. Verify the Pokémon Center logo and the energy card listing on the back before paying that premium.
Six packs at $26.94 retail, now $55–$70 sealed. Bundles were a frequent restock item at Target and Walmart, so they are the most available sealed pack source and the one most often seen at card shows.
Three-pack blisters with a promo card sell for $32–$42 sealed, single-pack checklane blisters for $12–$16, and sleeved boosters for $10–$13. Loose sleeved packs from this set are a common resale target, so buy them from sources you trust.
The Build & Battle Box sells for $40–$55 sealed and the Stadium for $90–$120. The Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex Box, with a Mewtwo ex promo, oversized card and four packs, launched at $24.99 and trades at $40–$55. All three offer packs at a lower cost than the booster box and have modest collector interest of their own.
Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex SIR (231/182) is the top Scarlet & Violet chase card outside of Prismatic Evolutions, trading at $450–$560 raw and $1,150–$1,400 in PSA 10. Cynthia's Garchomp ex SIR (232/182) follows at $220–$260 and Ethan's Ho-Oh ex SIR (230/182) at $150–$175. Team Rocket's Nidoking ex SIR (233/182) and Team Rocket's Moltres ex SIR (229/182) both sit around $85–$105, with Team Rocket's Crobat ex SIR (234/182) at $55–$65. The Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex hyper rare (240/182) is a second Mewtwo chase at $55–$65, and Misty's Psyduck IR (193/182) leads the illustration rares at $55–$70.
SIRs are commonly reported at roughly one per 100 packs, so a booster box has a reasonable chance at one but the Mewtwo specifically is a long shot. The set's depth of $50-plus cards is what makes opening it feel worthwhile even without the headline pull.
Destined Rivals is the strongest main-set hold of the Scarlet & Violet era, and the market already prices that in. At $400-plus a box you are paying for the Team Rocket theme, a deep chase list and proven demand, and the set has appreciated through every restock so far. The counterargument is that a $450 box with roughly one SIR expected does not pay for itself in pulls, and Scarlet & Violet boxes as a group face reprint risk while the Mega Evolution era is in print. Buy sealed Destined Rivals as a long-term collectible at a price you are comfortable holding through a 20–30% dip; do not buy it hoping to open your money back.
Destined Rivals has drawn more resealing than any other 2025 main set. A genuine box has logo-printed shrink with a single horizontal back seam; rewrapped boxes often use clear, logo-free film or show a doubled seam. Inside, packs sit in four rows of nine, all facing the same way. Weighed and resealed packs are the main risk: real packs weigh close to 33 grams, have a uniform machine crimp and include a code card. ETBs should show a Wobbuffet promo through the window and intact vent holes. On the Pokémon Center ETB, confirm the energy card list printed on the back. Avoid any listing offering "loose packs from a fresh box."
Local shops received allocations in every restock wave and often sell ETBs and bundles below eBay, so check the card shop directory and call ahead. Card shows are the best place to inspect a booster box in person before paying $400-plus. Online, these eBay searches return the cleanest results:
