Booster Box
The standard booster box holds 36 packs of 10 cards and carried a $161.64 MSRP at launch. It sold at or near retail for the first few weeks, then climbed steadily once the set rotated out of active printing behind Phantasmal Flames. In August 2026 sealed boxes sell for $280–$340 on eBay and TCGplayer, with most sales landing around $300. This is the product to buy if you want to open the set in volume or hold it long term.
Enhanced Booster Box
The Enhanced Booster Box was a retail-exclusive variant with the same 36 packs plus a stamped Bulbasaur Illustration Rare promo as a box topper. It was priced slightly above the standard box at retail and now trades at $270–$330 sealed, usually a touch under the plain box because more of them were produced through mass retailers. Make sure the promo is still inside the shrink before paying a premium for the "Enhanced" label.
Elite Trainer Box
Mega Evolution shipped two ETBs, one with Mega Lucario art (Riolu promo) and one with Mega Gardevoir art (Alakazam promo). Each includes nine packs, a foil promo, 65 sleeves, dice, markers, energy cards and a storage box, with an MSRP of $54.99. Both versions currently sell for $110–$130 sealed, with the Lucario ETB a few dollars higher because it matches the set's top chase card. At roughly $13 per pack these are collector pieces rather than value buys.
Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box
The Pokémon Center version bumps the pack count to 11 and adds a stamped promo and exclusive foil energy. Sealed examples run $160–$200, and the Lucario version leads the Gardevoir version by a small margin.
Booster Bundle
Six packs in a small box, $26.94 at retail. Bundles sell for $58–$70 in August 2026, which makes them the cheapest sealed entry point per pack after the booster box. They are also the item most often re-glued by scammers, so check the flap seams.
Blisters and Mega Heroes Mini Tins
Three-pack blisters with a promo card sell for $30–$40, single-pack blisters for $9–$13, and the Mega Heroes mini tins (two packs, stickers and an art card) for $25–$32. Loose packs on their own trade around $8, so anything below that in a blister is a fair deal.
Build & Battle Box
The prerelease kit contains four packs, a 40-card evolution deck and one of four holo promos (Meganium, Inteleon, Alakazam or Lunatone). Sealed kits run $40–$55, with a small premium for the Alakazam promo.
Chase cards and pull rates
Every ex in the base set is a Mega Evolution, and the top of the checklist is dominated by two of them. Mega Lucario ex Mega Hyper Rare (188/132) is the most valuable card in the set at $250–$300 raw, followed by the Mega Gardevoir ex MHR (187/132) at $190–$230. The Special Illustration Rares of Mega Lucario ex (179/132), Mega Gardevoir ex (178/132) and Mega Venusaur ex (177/132) sit between $150 and $220 each. Among Trainers, Lillie's Determination SIR (184/132) is the standout at $55–$75, and the full-art Mega ex Ultra Rares fill out the $20–$60 tier.
Pull rates are not published, but community openings put Special Illustration Rares somewhere between one per 30 and one per 80 packs and Mega Hyper Rares anywhere from one per 60 packs to one per several hundred, depending on which tracker you trust. Expect most booster boxes to contain one SIR and no MHR. A Mega ex Double Rare shows up in roughly every fifth pack, so the set is generous on playable hits and stingy on the top-end.
Is Mega Evolution worth buying sealed?
At $300 a box, the packs cost about $8.30 each and the expected pull value does not cover that; you are paying for the set's position as the first release of the block. The upside is genuine: first sets of a new era (Base Set, Diamond & Pearl, Scarlet & Violet base) have historically held value once they leave print, and demand for Mega Lucario ex remains strong. The main risk is a reprint wave, which The Pokémon Company has done for several 2024–2025 sets. If you are buying to hold, favor standard booster boxes and Lucario ETBs, and buy on dips after new set releases when attention shifts elsewhere.
How to spot fakes and resealed products
Genuine Mega Evolution booster boxes ship with a horizontal back seam in the shrink wrap and Pokémon-logo-patterned film; a plain clear wrap with a vertical seam is a warning sign. Each pack has a serrated crimp on both ends and contains a Pokémon TCG Live code card, so a pack that weighs light or lacks a code card was likely opened. Enhanced Booster Boxes should show the promo card sleeve through the film. For booster bundles, inspect the top flap: factory glue is clean and even, while resealed bundles show tape marks or a wrinkled flap. Buy from established shops or sellers with sealed-product feedback and avoid stock-photo listings.
