Chaos Rising is the fourth Mega Evolution set, released May 22, 2026, and it is the smallest main set of the block at 86 base cards. It is built around Mega Greninja ex, which appears as a Double Rare, Ultra Rare, Special Illustration Rare and gold Mega Hyper Rare, plus a new "Chaos Holo" texture used on the set's six SIRs. Sealed Chaos Rising has been widely available since launch, so a Chaos Rising booster box still trades close to MSRP in August 2026. This page covers every sealed product, what the Greninja cards are worth, and whether buying in now makes sense.

Thirty-six packs at the current $161.64 MSRP. Chaos Rising received a second print wave in late June, and boxes have been easy to find at or near retail since. August 2026 sales range from $160 to $200 with most closing around $175–$185, so there is little reason to pay eBay premiums when local shops and big-box retailers have stock. At roughly $5 per pack this is one of the cheapest ways to open modern Pokémon right now.
The ETB holds nine packs, a foil promo, 65 sleeves, dice, markers, energy and the collector's box for $49.99. Sealed ETBs sell for $60–$75 in August 2026, barely above retail. Because the set is small, an ETB plus a booster box gets most collectors close to a full base checklist.
The Pokémon Center version carries 11 packs and a stamped promo at $59.99. It currently sells for $65–$85, so the premium over the retail ETB is modest and mostly reflects the two extra packs.
Chaos Rising bundles retail at $26.94 and trade at $34–$45 sealed. Unlike earlier sets in the block, the bundle is not the scarce item here; buy it for convenience rather than value.
Three-pack blisters with a promo sell for $22–$30 and single-pack checklane blisters for $6–$9. The set's retail promo lineup includes Fennekin, Delphox, Ampharos, Crobat, Goodra, Ho-Oh and Keldeo across different store exclusives, and a few of those blisters carry a small premium for the promo alone.
The prerelease kit contains four packs, a 40-card deck and a holo promo at $29.99. Sealed kits run $30–$40, which is close to the cheapest per-pack price in the line for players who also want the deck.
Mega Greninja ex Special Illustration Rare (116/86) is the card everyone wants, and it has been volatile: it opened near $600 on release weekend, cooled through June, and in August trades in a wide $220–$450 band depending on the day and the seller. The gold Mega Hyper Rare (122/86) is rarer but less popular, at $190–$400. The two Greninja cards account for the bulk of the set's total value. Below them, Cinccino ex SIR (119/86) is a surprising second-tier hit at $55–$80, while Mega Dragalge ex SIR (118/86), Mega Floette ex SIR (117/86) and AZ's Tranquility SIR (120/86) sit between $25 and $50. The Mega Greninja ex Ultra Rare (100/86) is the affordable version at $30–$50.
Pull rates match the rest of the block: community logs put Special Illustration Rares at roughly one per 80–85 packs and the Mega Hyper Rare at well under one per 20 boxes. A Mega ex Double Rare appears roughly every 12 packs, so most boxes contain three of them. Plan on a booster box giving you a strong shot at a Greninja UR and less than a coin flip at any SIR.
As an opening product, yes. At $175 a box the per-pack cost is around $5, and with a small checklist you get a lot of set completion per dollar. As an investment, the case is slower: supply is deep, the set is still in print, and a single Greninja chase carries the value. Small main sets with an in-demand headline card have appreciated over multi-year windows (Obsidian Flames is the usual comparison), but that requires patience and a willingness to hold through the flat period while the set is on shelves. Buy at MSRP from retail or a local shop rather than paying secondary premiums, and treat anything above $200 for a box as too early.
Because sealed Chaos Rising is cheap and plentiful, it is less of a reseal target than Phantasmal Flames or Ascended Heroes, but the tells are the same. Look for Pokémon-logo patterned shrink film with a horizontal rear seam on boxes and ETBs. Every pack should have serrated crimps on both ends and a Pokémon TCG Live code card; packs that feel thin or show a rounded, heat-pressed edge have been reopened. Watch for bundles sold as "booster boxes" and for "mystery" repacks that use Chaos Rising packs as filler around a promised Greninja hit.
This is a set your local shop probably has on the shelf at retail, and buying there supports the store and lets you inspect the product. Find one through the card shop directory. Card shows often discount main-set boxes still in print. Online, these eBay searches keep listings clean:
