Pitch Black Sealed Products: Booster Box Prices, Mega Darkrai ex & Where to Buy

Jul 2026ME05from $200.005 sealed products

Pitch Black is the fifth Mega Evolution set, released July 17, 2026, with a Darkness and Psychic slant and Mega Darkrai ex as its headline. Like Chaos Rising before it, it is a compact main set of 84 base cards, but the artwork on the Darkrai Special Illustration Rare has made it the most talked-about summer release in a while. Five weeks after launch a Pitch Black booster box sells for a modest premium over its $161.64 MSRP, and ETBs are the product that keeps selling out. This page covers every sealed item, current August 2026 prices, the chase cards and how to avoid tampered product.

Sealed products for Pitch Black

Booster Box

Thirty-six packs at $161.64 MSRP. The first wave sold through quickly at big-box retailers, but restocks have been frequent and boxes are selling for $170–$200 in late August, with most eBay sales landing between $180 and $195. Anyone patient enough to catch a restock can still buy at retail. At about $5 a pack it is an easy set to open, and with only 84 base cards a single box covers most of the checklist.

Elite Trainer Box

Nine packs, a foil promo, sleeves, dice, markers, energy and a collector's box with Mega Darkrai art, at $49.99. The ETB is the product collectors want for the box art, and sealed examples have been trading at $70–$95, above the booster box on a per-pack basis. Earlier in August some sales crossed $100 during a gap between restocks, so if you see one at retail, take it.

Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box

The Pokémon Center ETB carries 11 packs and a stamped promo at $59.99 and has been the scarce item of the set. Sealed listings run $110–$135. The premium is driven by the exclusive stamp and the fact that Pokémon Center stock sold out in minutes on release day.

Booster Bundle

Six packs for $26.94. Bundles sell for $30–$40 sealed and are the cheapest small purchase of Pitch Black packs after loose packs, which run about $6 each.

Blisters

Three-pack blisters with a promo sell for $20–$28, and single-pack and checklane blisters for $6–$9. These are stocked steadily at grocery and drugstore checklanes and are rarely worth buying online.

Build & Battle Box

The prerelease kit with four packs, a 40-card deck and a holo promo retailed at $29.99 and now sells for $32–$40. It is the best entry point for players who want a Darkness deck shell along with packs.

Chase cards and pull rates

Mega Darkrai ex Special Illustration Rare (116/84) is the chase of the summer. Illustrated by Akira Egawa, it trades at $250–$300 raw in late August and has been one of the few modern SIRs to rise in the weeks after release rather than fall. The gold Mega Darkrai ex Mega Hyper Rare (120/84) is rarer to pull and sits at $170–$210. Morpeko ex SIR (117/84) is the sleeper of the set at $100–$130, an unusually strong price for a non-Mega ex. Mega Zeraora ex SIR (114/84) and Mega Chandelure ex SIR (115/84) fill the $45–$80 tier, and the Ultra Rare full-art Mega Darkrai ex is the affordable version at $25–$40.

Pull rates follow the block pattern of roughly one Special Illustration Rare per 80–85 packs and a Mega Hyper Rare far less often than one per box. With only five SIRs in the set, the Darkrai SIR makes up a meaningful share of SIR pulls, which is part of why box demand has held. Illustration Rares at roughly one per nine packs keep most boxes from feeling empty.

Is Pitch Black worth buying sealed?

For opening, this is one of the better value sets of 2026: a small checklist, a chase card that is holding its price, and boxes within $40 of MSRP. For holding, the story is still being written. The set is in active print with regular restocks, so sealed prices are unlikely to move much before the end of the year. The case for a long hold is that Darkrai has a durable fan base, the Egawa SIR is already being compared to earlier grail illustrations, and small sets with one iconic card have done well over three to five years. Buy at retail or from a local shop and treat anything above $200 for a box as paying for impatience.

How to spot fakes and resealed products

Pitch Black is new enough that outright counterfeit boxes are rare, but resealed ETBs and weighed packs have already surfaced. Genuine boxes and ETBs use Pokémon-logo patterned shrink film with a horizontal rear seam and small vent holes; the ETB shrink should not have any cuts along the bottom edge where the box could be opened and resealed. Packs have serrated crimps on both ends and contain a Pokémon TCG Live code card. Pokémon Center ETBs show the Pokémon Center logo on the front panel and a stamped promo, so check photos closely before paying the premium. Skip "heavy pack" and "mystery repack" listings.

Where to buy Pitch Black sealed

Local shops received solid allocations of Pitch Black and many still have ETBs at $49.99. Use the card shop directory to find one near you and call ahead about stock. Card shows are a good place to buy booster boxes at or below eBay prices. Online, these eBay searches return the cleanest results:
