Green Oaks tournament hall with Magic, Pokemon and Digimon singles, an official Pokemon League, Friday Night Magic and a wall of Gunpla kits.
Play space is the point at Darkhound Game Center. The Green Oaks Boulevard location is built around open tables rather than a single display counter, and on a Friday night the room fills with Magic players, Pokemon League regulars and a rotating cast of Digimon and One Piece TCG groups who found each other here.
The card selection reflects that breadth. Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon lead, but the shelves also carry Yu-Gi-Oh!, Weiss Schwarz, Cardfight!! Vanguard, Digimon and One Piece in both singles and sealed. Anime merchandise and Gunpla kits occupy a surprising amount of real estate, along with a solid Dungeons and Dragons and tabletop RPG section, so a group can outfit a whole game night in one trip.
Organized play is the shop's real credential. Darkhound is a registered Wizards Play Network store, an official Pokemon League listed on Pokemon.com and a stop on the Flesh and Blood store locator. Friday Night Magic runs around a five dollar entry, prereleases land on schedule with each set, and the owner is a fixture behind the counter. One recent reviewer described going for Magic and finding the owner a super nice guy who answered all their questions, and another said their family comes in about twice a week for Magic and D and D.
Hours are long but uneven, so check before driving over. The shop opens at noon most days and runs to 10PM Monday and Wednesday through Saturday, closes early at 5PM on Tuesday and wraps at 6PM on Sunday. That Tuesday close-out catches people out, and it shows up in the occasional frustrated review.
The 4.3 rating across roughly 138 Google reviews is honest rather than glowing, and it reads like a shop that prioritizes its regulars and its event calendar. If you want an Arlington card shop where you can buy singles and then immediately sit down and play with them, this is the one.
