About The Shop

Retro video game store in south Harrisonburg that keeps sealed Pokemon, Magic, and One Piece stocked, with trade-ins and a loyalty program, open daily.

Brothers Josh and Eric Mitri opened Rocktown Games in 2022 to fill the hole left when Monster Games closed, and they built it around retro consoles first. The shelves in Garbers Crossing run from Atari 2600 carts to PS5 and Switch titles, with controllers, accessories, Funko Pops, statues, and a wall of DVDs and VHS. But a growing chunk of the counter is trading cards, and for collectors on the south side of Harrisonburg it has become a convenient place to grab sealed product without driving downtown.

The card inventory is sealed-focused. Rocktown stocks Pokemon booster packs, elite trainer boxes, and tins, plus Magic: The Gathering sets and One Piece Card Game boosters, and it was cited for Yu-Gi-Oh! in the 2025 Best of the Valley write-up that named it a Game Store finalist. Do not expect deep singles binders; this is a spot for ripping packs and picking up new releases, not for finishing a competitive deck. The shop does selectively take trading cards, Funko Pops, and statues on trade, alongside its core video game and console trade-ins for cash or store credit.

The loyalty program is a practical reason to make Rocktown a habit: one point per dollar spent, redeemable for discounts or items, and account holders get a satisfaction-guarantee return policy. Disc resurfacing runs $2.50 per disc, and new-release pre-orders take a $5 deposit. Midnight release parties and seasonal events happen in-store, and the crew runs Super Smash Bros. tournaments in partnership with JMU and local restaurants.

Rocktown is open every day from noon to 8 PM, one of the simplest schedules of any trading cards shop in Harrisonburg. Weekend afternoons are busiest; weekday evenings are quieter for browsing. The Mitris also vend at conventions from Otakon to MAGFest and at downtown Harrisonburg events like Skeleton Fest and Winter Wonderfest, so the physical store occasionally runs with reduced staff on big convention weekends. Parking is plentiful in the Garbers Crossing lot off John Wayland Highway.

Awesome place! Fair prices on trade-ins and great prices on the games they have there. There's also a great selection of stuff both retro and new.

Rocktown Games is more than a store for video games. You feel the friendly atmosphere when you walk in.

This is one of the best game stores I've ever been to. The staff was really nice and they seemed passionate about the hobby.
