Card Vault DSM

Card Vault DSM is Urbandale's beloved neighborhood card shop and the acknowledged leader in Pokémon retail across the Des Moines metro. Open seven days a week, this family-owned gem stocks the latest sealed products in both English and Japanese, vintage singles from the 1960s onward, and a growing diecast collection.

Tucked into a convenient neighborhood location on Urbandale's 70th Street, Card Vault DSM has earned its reputation as the Des Moines metro's most welcoming and community-focused card shop. Family owned and operated, the shop radiates the kind of warmth that keeps collectors coming back week after week.

Card Vault's Pokémon department stands out as the crown jewel of the operation. The staff proudly claim the title of leading Pokémon retailer in the metro, and it's easy to see why. Their inventory includes the newest English and Japanese releases on launch day, a deep catalog of vintage singles, an extensive selection of PSA and BGS graded Pokémon cards, comprehensive bulk lots for set builders, and a diverse array of sealed ETBs, booster boxes, and premium collections. Whether you're chasing a holo Charizard from Base Set or hunting the latest Surging Sparks pull, Card Vault has you covered.

Sports card collectors are equally well served. The shop stocks classic big-box retail blasters and mega boxes from Walmart and Target lines, as well as hobby boxes and a broad selection of singles spanning the 1960s to the present day — all at fair, no-gouging prices. The staff genuinely believes in not hoarding vintage cards; they price them to sell and let the hobby thrive.

Beyond the inventory, Card Vault DSM has built a reputation as a genuinely inclusive space. The shop is welcoming to moms, female collectors, and families, making it a rare safe haven in what can sometimes be an intimidating hobby. Free cards for kids and a friendly, judgement-free environment cement this reputation.

The shop is open seven days a week — Monday through Friday 10 AM to 6 PM, and weekends 10 AM to 3 PM — making it easy to swing by on any schedule. They also boast being the highest-paying card shop in the metro for the last three years running when it comes to buying collections, with digital payment options via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, and cash.

With their growing 1/64 diecast collection, fair pricing philosophy, and unmatched Pokémon expertise, Card Vault DSM is an essential stop for any collector passing through the Des Moines area.
