Overland Road game store running weekly Magic, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments alongside 150-plus demo board games and a full miniatures room.
All About Games occupies a large Overland Road space in southwest Boise and splits it between retail and play. The collectible card game section covers Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! with singles, sealed product, and accessories, and the store runs some of the most consistently attended tournaments in Idaho — multiple nights a week rather than one weekly headline event.
The game room is the differentiator. Multiple 6x4 tables handle miniature wargaming for Games Workshop, Privateer Press, and Wyrd systems, and they double as tournament seating on CCG nights. Over 150 demo board games are available to open and try, backed by one of the largest board game selections in the state.
Hours are built for evening play and are the longest of any Boise card shop. Doors close at 10pm Tuesday through Friday and 9pm on Saturday, with an 11am open most days and a 10am start on Friday and Saturday. Sunday runs 11am to 8pm. If you want to play rather than just shop, almost any night works.
Staff knowledge comes up repeatedly in reviews — the shop is used as a one-stop recommendation point for people new to a game system who need someone to explain the entry cost before they commit.
Collectors chasing graded sports cards should look elsewhere in Boise; this is a TCG and tabletop room first, and it is very good at being that.
