Small University Boulevard shop punching above its size on Pokemon singles — quarter bins to graded slabs — with Wednesday night tournaments.
Six hundred and eighteen University Boulevard East is not a large space, and 6ixth Sense Card Shop does not pretend otherwise. What it has is depth in the categories it commits to. Pokemon leads, with singles priced from about a quarter up past a hundred dollars, sealed product on the wall, and graded slabs in the case running roughly twenty to two hundred. One Piece, Magic, Dragon Ball Super, Flesh and Blood and Star Wars Unlimited all have a presence too.
The shop's 4.8 average comes largely from how people describe the counter. Jimmy gets named repeatedly — one regular put it simply, that Jimmy always has the best stuff — and newer players report getting deck-building advice rather than a shrug. For anyone learning the game, this is a low-pressure room to ask questions in.
Wednesday is the night to come if you want to play. Local tournaments run then and are the most reliable way to meet the regular crowd. Outside of that, the store keeps a steady noon-to-8PM schedule six days a week, closing earlier at 5PM on Sundays.
Two honest caveats from the reviews: parking on that stretch of University Boulevard can be a hassle, and a few customers have found the hours occasionally unpredictable. Calling 301-431-0701 or checking the Instagram before a trip across town is time well spent. It is a short hop from the Wheaton and Four Corners area, which makes it an easy add-on to a Silver Spring card shop crawl that also takes in Dice City and House of Cards.
