Booster Box
Thirty-six packs of ten cards, printed in enormous quantities during 2020 and then dropped from the print schedule as Rebel Clash arrived. MSRP was $143.64, and boxes were available below that for most of 2020. As of August 2026 sealed boxes sell for $520–$700 on eBay, with TCGplayer listings sitting toward the top of that range. The set has two pack arts (Zacian and Zamazenta) mixed in each box. This is the product to buy if you want a long-term hold on the first set of the era.
Elite Trainer Box (Zacian and Zamazenta)
Two versions shipped, one with Zacian art and one with Zamazenta, each with eight booster packs, 65 sleeves, dice, condition markers, energy and a player guide. Original MSRP was $39.99. Sealed ETBs now trade at $135–$175 for either version, with Zamazenta occasionally a few dollars higher because fewer seem to surface. The per-pack cost is close to the booster box, so buy the ETB for the display value rather than the packs.
Elite Trainer Box Plus
The ETB Plus was a retailer-exclusive product (Pokemon Center and GameStop) that bundled the standard ETB contents with a Zacian V or Zamazenta V promo card in a larger sleeve box, and it originally cost $49.99. Because the run was small, ETB Plus boxes sell for $180–$220 sealed in 2026 and are one of the harder SWSH01 products to find in clean condition.
Build & Battle Box
Four packs, a 23-card evolution pack with one of four promos, and a code card, sold at $19.99 for prerelease play. Sealed Build & Battle boxes run $55–$80 today. They were opened in large numbers at prereleases, so sealed survivors are less common than the price suggests.
Blisters and Collection Boxes
Three-pack blisters with a promo (Galarian Ponyta, Galarian Zigzagoon and others) trade at $40–$55, and single-pack checklane blisters at $12–$18. The Galar Collection boxes (Grookey, Scorbunny or Sobble promo with a Zacian V or Zamazenta V oversized card and four packs) sit at $70–$95 sealed, and the Zacian V and Zamazenta V Figure Collections, which include a figure and four packs, sell for $80–$110.
Chase cards and pull rates
The base set does not have an Umbreon or Charizard to anchor it, and prices reflect that. Zacian V full art (195/202) and Zamazenta V full art (196/202) are the iconic cards, but heavy print runs keep raw copies under $10, with graded PSA 10s in the $40–$80 range. Snorlax V full art (197/202) is the priciest V at $25–$40. The rainbow rare VMAX cards, Lapras VMAX (203/202), Morpeko VMAX (204/202) and Snorlax VMAX, run $15–$45 raw, and the gold Quick Ball (216/202) sells for $20–$35 because of its playability history.
Hit rates follow the standard SWSH structure: roughly one V or VMAX every three to four packs, with full arts and secret rares appearing a few times per box. It is an easy set to complete from a single booster box plus some singles, which is how most collectors approach it.
Is Sword & Shield base set worth buying sealed?
At $520–$700 for a box, the expected value of the cards inside is well under $200, so the sealed premium is purely about the product itself. What supports the price is that SWSH01 was the first set of a now-closed era, and first sets have historically aged well once the era is complete. The counterargument is that this set was printed more heavily than anything before it and sealed supply is still abundant. Buy a box because you want the first Galar set in your collection, not because you expect Evolving Skies-style returns.
How to spot fakes and resealed products
SWSH01 boxes have a plastic outer wrap with a single straight seam on the bottom and small air holes; the wrap should sit tight against the box with no bunching at the corners. Authentic packs have crimped top and bottom edges with even ridges and a matte foil finish, and every pack includes a code card, so a pack with no code card has been tampered with. Because early SWSH boxes traded cheaply for years, resealing was less common than with pricier sets, but weight-searched boxes with re-glued flaps do exist. Check that the inner tuck flaps are factory glued and that the Pokemon Company holographic seal on ETBs is intact and unlifted.
