PowerHouse Cards

State Highway 46 storefront where New Braunfels collectors move sports wax and Pokemon — buy, sell and trade, Tuesday through Saturday only.

PowerHouse Cards took Suite 110 at 1545 State Highway 46 in early 2025 and has quietly become one of the go-to spots in New Braunfels for sports cards without much fanfare. The pitch is straightforward and the shop does not dress it up: buy, sell, trade. Sports wax and singles carry the inventory, with Pokemon and general collectibles filling out the cases.

The operating week is the shortest of any card shop in the city. PowerHouse opens Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM to 6PM, and is closed both Sunday and Monday. That 10AM open is earlier than the New Braunfels norm, which makes it the practical option for anyone who wants to handle a sale before lunch rather than waiting for the afternoon-opening shops down the road.

Being on Highway 46 rather than the I-35 corridor puts it on the west side of town, closer to the Hwy 46 retail strip than the frontage-road cluster. If you are working a route through multiple New Braunfels shops in one afternoon, this is the one to hit first given the 6PM close.

The review picture is genuinely split, and it is worth going in aware of that. The store carries a 100% recommend rating on Facebook, with customers pointing to product selection and the service at the counter. But there is also a pointed complaint on record about buy prices being uncompetitive. Both things can be true of the same shop: strong on retail selection and service, tougher if you are the one selling. Get a second quote before moving a significant collection.

With fewer than a dozen posted reviews, the sample here is thin compared with the older card shops in the area, so the rating should be read as directional rather than settled. What is clear is the inventory position — for sports cards New Braunfels collectors have a dedicated, consistently stocked option on the 46 side of town, open five days a week at 830-214-6221.
