About The Shop

Gary and Buck's vintage-leaning sports shop on 1st Street — Reds memorabilia, graded slabs and boxes of baseball singles priced by conversation, not by algorithm.

Huntington sits close enough to Cincinnati that Reds material has always moved here, and Who's On First? leans into it. The 1st Street shop keeps Pete Rose and Ken Griffey pieces in the cases alongside football and basketball, and the back of the room is where the vintage lives — boxes of baseball singles, older wax, and a case of graded slabs for anyone shopping the PSA end of the hobby.

The shop runs on its owners. Gary and Buck are named directly in most of the reviews, and the recurring theme is that pricing here is a conversation: bring in a want list, bring in a collection you inherited, and the number gets worked out across the counter rather than pulled off a comp sheet. One review describes the owner handing a couple of kids free cards of their favorite players, which tells you most of what you need to know about the tone of the place.

This is an old-school sports card shop in Huntington, not a TCG store. There are no Pokemon shelves and no Friday night events; what you get is somebody who has been buying and selling cardboard long enough to know what a 1970s Topps run should cost and whether the thing you brought in is worth grading. Collectors clearing out a relative's basement tend to end up here, and so do people chasing a specific Reds or Mountaineer-adjacent piece.

Timing matters. The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11AM to 6PM, and fully closed Monday and Sunday — a narrow window compared to the shops up on 3rd Avenue, so plan a weekday lunch break or a Saturday. It sits a short drive from the downtown core near the riverfront, with easy street parking out front, which makes it a reasonable pairing with Freeman's a few blocks away if you want to hit two sports shops in one afternoon.

At 4.3 stars across 24 Google reviews it is a small sample, but a consistent one: people come for the vintage, stay for the haggling, and come back.
