Atomic Goblin Games calls itself Longmont's oldest board game shop, and the Longmont Times-Call readers backed the claim by voting it Best Gaming Store in both 2024 and 2025. Owner Jaime is the constant — named in review after review, usually mid-explanation of a game somebody was on the fence about.

The trading card floor covers Magic, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh in both sealed and singles, with a TCGplayer storefront handling the online side. Comics are gone — the shop dropped them some years back — but Warhammer 40K expanded to fill an entire wall, with Citadel paints around five dollars and terrain provided for Thursday and Saturday play. The dice selection gets singled out more than any other accessory, and a used board game section sits alongside the new Ticket to Ride and Pandemic stock.

The weekly rhythm is easy to learn: Friday night Commander, Thursday night D&D, Saturday afternoon Yu-Gi-Oh locals at $5 with merchandise prizing, and free tabletop RPG sessions most nights kicking off at 6PM. Prereleases are run properly — the Secrets of Strixhaven event ran Friday at 6:30PM and Sunday at noon, $40 sealed entry, three Swiss rounds with roughly fifty minutes for deck construction, with reservations released fifteen minutes before start if you're late.

The room itself is large and clean with plenty of tables, decorated in goblin statues that lean fully into the name. Specialty drinks are available and outside food is allowed, which is why long sessions actually stay long. Gift cards run $12 to $100, framed by the shop as roughly two event entries or two board games.

Hours are 11AM to 9PM Monday through Friday, 10AM to 9PM Saturday, and 10AM to 6PM Sunday, with holidays sometimes shifting them. Fair caution: the 4.4 rating carries a persistent minority complaint about late openings and thin shelves during restock gaps, so calling ahead for a specific product is the smart move.
