Instead of the usual wall of longboxes, NewCastle Comics & Games files its back issues in drawer units, and reviewers keep returning to it — the store stays open and uncluttered in a way that most comic-and-card hybrids never manage. The card side is the reason it belongs in a Longmont card shop directory. NewCastle is one of the few shops in town carrying both modern and vintage sports alongside Pokemon, Magic, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Magic singles get their own dedicated Longmont storefront on TCGplayer Pro, separate from the company's St. Louis operation, so the local inventory is genuinely local. Pokemon sealed — Elite Trainer Boxes, packs, bundles — sits in the case, and the comics half runs new releases, back issues, graphic novels, omnibuses, and manga across three full shelves.

The operation is family-run and veteran-led: a father and son own it, with Steve handling the Longmont side and a second location in the St. Louis area. That size shows up as flexibility — special orders on almost anything, curbside pickup, local delivery, and in-store pickup all available.

A fair warning on hours: Monday is closed outright and Tuesday is a short noon-to-6PM day. Wednesday through Saturday run 11AM to 7PM, and Sunday is noon to 6PM. Wednesday is new comic day, which is also the busiest.

The location is downtown on 5th Avenue just off Main, on the same block as several restaurants, with parking directly in front. A drink cooler stocked with Japanese sodas and bubble tea sits near the register, and key issues hang on the wall behind the back-issue section. The 4.8 average across roughly 200 Google reviews is one of the steadiest in the city, though a minority of Pokemon buyers have flagged sealed pricing as above market — worth a price check if you're buying wax rather than singles.
