Diamond in the Ruff returns to the Sun City West Foundation building on Sunday, September 13, 2026, and if you have never worked a northwest Valley Sunday show, this is the one to start with. Organizer Joey has quietly turned a community-center card show into one of the most consistently well-stocked free events in metro Phoenix, and the September edition kicks off a busy autumn run of Sunday dates at the same venue.
The floor leans heavily toward sports cards, which is exactly what the Sun City West crowd comes for. Baseball is the backbone: vintage Topps and Bowman run from the 1950s forward, with plenty of 1970s and 1980s star cards, complete and partial sets, and team lots priced to move. Football and basketball dealers bring modern rookie cards, Prizm and Optic parallels, and autographed inserts, while hockey, UFC, boxing and soccer show up in smaller but genuinely interesting quantities. Graded slabs from PSA, SGC and BGS are spread across most tables, and several dealers specialize in raw vintage that has never been submitted, which is where the value hunting gets fun. You will also find trading card game product in the mix, mainly Pokemon singles and sealed boxes, plus memorabilia, signed baseballs, team pennants, comics and a scattering of Funko Pops.
Hours are 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, a single afternoon window. Admission is free, with no early-buyer upcharge, and kids are welcome when accompanied by an adult. There is no ticketing to worry about at all: walk up, walk in, start shopping.
The SCW Foundation Webb and Powell Rooms sit inside the R.H. Johnson recreation complex at 14465 W RH Johnson Blvd, just off Grand Avenue in Sun City West. Parking is free and plentiful in the surrounding lot, the rooms are fully air-conditioned, and the layout is a straightforward open floor with aisles wide enough to browse comfortably even when attendance peaks mid-afternoon.
Who should come? This show suits set builders, vintage hunters and anybody who prefers a relaxed pace to a crowded convention hall. Families do well here because there is no entry cost and the dime and quarter boxes give kids something to dig through. Serious dealers should not write it off either, because Sun City West sits in the middle of a large retiree population and collections regularly come off the shelf and onto these tables for the first time in decades.
Tips for a good afternoon: arrive close to the 1:00 PM open, since the sharpest raw vintage tends to change hands within the first hour. Bring cash, which still earns the best price at a free community show, and carry a written want list with your ceiling prices so you are not negotiating from memory.
