Diamond in the Ruff runs its second October date at the Sun City West Foundation building on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Consecutive Sunday editions are how this series works, and the dealer roster rotates between them, so the October 18 floor carries different inventory than the October 11 show did. Regulars work both dates for exactly that reason, and if you missed something the week before, this is your second chance at a different set of tables.
Expect a sports-card-first room. Baseball anchors it with vintage Topps and Bowman, mid-century stars, deep 1970s and 1980s runs for set builders, team and player lots, and modern MLB rookies with numbered parallels and autographs. Mid-October puts football front and center, so NFL tables carry rookie patch autographs, Prizm, Optic and Select parallels and vintage stars, while the newly opened NBA season pushes basketball interest up alongside it. Hockey, UFC, boxing and soccer each hold their own table space. Graded material from PSA, SGC and BGS is distributed throughout the hall, several dealers focus on raw vintage awaiting submission, and most tables keep dollar, quarter and dime boxes underneath for bargain digging. Pokemon singles and sealed product represent the trading card game side, and the room also carries memorabilia, signed baseballs and photos, vintage programs, comics and collectible figures.
Hours are 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, a single afternoon block. Admission is free for everyone with no early-buyer tier, no advance tickets and no upcharge of any kind. Children are welcome with an adult.
The show occupies the Webb and Powell Rooms of the SCW Foundation building at 14465 W RH Johnson Blvd, in the R.H. Johnson recreation complex just off Grand Avenue in Sun City West. Parking is free and plentiful, and the rooms are fully air-conditioned with level access throughout. The connected two-room layout gives the show genuinely wide aisles, which makes a real difference when you want to stop and examine a case without blocking traffic behind you.
Who it suits: vintage collectors and set builders get the most value, families get a free and unhurried outing, and newcomers get a patient dealer base willing to explain how grading and pricing actually work. Dealers and collection buyers should treat Sun City West as a priority venue between October and March, when the seasonal population swells and dormant collections surface at a much higher rate than during the summer.
Work the afternoon this way: arrive at the open, do one complete pass without buying to map where your targets are, then circle back and negotiate with a plan. Cash earns the best price, particularly at a show with no admission revenue. Keep a written want list with ceiling prices, and carry sleeves and top loaders for anything raw you pick up. Bring a bright light if you inspect vintage corners and centering closely. Introduce yourself and say what you collect, because want-list callbacks and trades drive a surprising amount of business at this series.
