One week after its September 13 edition, Diamond in the Ruff is back at the Sun City West Foundation building on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Back-to-back Sunday dates are a feature of this series rather than a scheduling quirk: the dealer roster rotates between weeks, so the September 20 floor will not look like the September 13 floor, and regulars work both dates specifically to catch inventory that was still in a box the Sunday before.
Sports cards drive this show. Baseball tables run deepest, with pre-war and 1950s vintage on the high end, huge quantities of 1970s and 1980s commons and stars in bargain boxes, and modern MLB rookies, numbered parallels and on-card autographs in the glass. Basketball and football dealers bring rookie patch autographs, Prizm and Select parallels, and vintage star rookies for collectors chasing the classics. Hockey, UFC, boxing and soccer each get real table space, which is not a given at smaller Valley shows. Graded material from PSA, SGC and BGS is scattered throughout, and a handful of dealers focus on raw vintage waiting to be submitted, which is where patient buyers find upside. Pokemon singles and sealed product are the main trading card game presence, alongside memorabilia, autographed balls, vintage programs, comics and collectible figures.
Hours are 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free with no early-access tier and no tickets to buy in advance, and children are welcome with an adult. That free-entry policy is deliberate on the organizer side, and it is a big part of why the room fills steadily through the afternoon rather than emptying out after the first hour.
The venue is the Webb and Powell Rooms inside the SCW Foundation building at 14465 W RH Johnson Blvd, within the R.H. Johnson recreation complex just off Grand Avenue. Parking is free, the lot wraps the building, and the interior is air-conditioned with level entry throughout. The two connected rooms give the show a comfortable open-floor layout with wide aisles, which makes it easy to double back on a table without fighting a crowd.
The audience here spans retirees who have collected since childhood, families bringing kids to their first show, and Valley dealers working the northwest circuit. If you are new to the hobby, this is a low-pressure place to learn: ask questions, handle cards, and get a feel for what raw versus graded pricing actually looks like. If you are experienced, the draw is the steady flow of fresh local collections into a room with no admission barrier.
Make the most of the afternoon by arriving at the open, bringing cash for the best pricing, and carrying a want list with firm ceilings. Sleeves and top loaders are worth having in your bag for raw pickups. Tell dealers what you collect, because trades happen constantly at this show and several sellers actively buy collections on site.
