Open on US 19 since 1989 with singles, packs and boxes across every major sport, plus new comics every Wednesday and the county's deepest supply wall.
Thirty-seven years is a long run for any hobby shop, and Wonder Water has spent all of them on US Highway 19. The odd name is a leftover from a previous life — the store still jokes that it does not just sell water anymore — but the sports card inventory it has accumulated since 1989 is the most complete in Clearwater. Baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, wrestling and MMA are all represented in singles, packs and boxes, with Leaf, Panini, Topps and Upper Deck stocked side by side.
The shop keeps one policy that serious buyers care about and states it openly: packs and boxes are never searched. In a market where that assurance is often left vague, saying it out loud is the point.
Physical scale is the first thing visitors mention. Reviewers describe a floor big enough that the comic section alone takes a year to work through, with sports cards arranged meticulously around the perimeter. New comics land every Wednesday, bagged and boarded. The supply wall is arguably the real hidden asset — BallQube, BCW, ProMold and Ultra Pro in enough depth that collectors drive in from across Pinellas just for penny sleeves and one-touches. Pokemon and Magic new releases round out the counter, and Beckett price guides sit within arm's reach.
One honest caveat that shows up repeatedly in reviews: counter service quality varies with who is working. Several customers have singled out the weekday-early staffing as brusque while praising the crew from Wednesday onward. Plan accordingly if you are bringing a kid on their first card-shop trip. Hours run noon to 7PM Monday through Friday, an earlier 10AM to 5PM on Saturday, and noon to 5PM Sunday. The store also sells through Beckett Marketplace if you would rather browse before driving up.
