TBS Comics pairs a deep Pensacola comics floor with Magic, Pokemon and sports card singles, a Sunday Pokemon League and near-midnight weekend hours.
With more than 700 reviews behind it, TBS Comics is one of the most established shops of its kind on the Florida panhandle — and while the name says comics, the trading card side is not a token endcap. Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece, Disney Lorcana and Gundam all get shelf space, and the store keeps a dedicated sports card section alongside them. Warhammer 40,000 and D&D round out a floor that covers most of what a hobby shopper might be after in a single trip.
The event side is what keeps people coming back weekly. A Pokemon League runs Sunday afternoons at 2pm, and the store's tournament and game-night calendar fills out the rest of the week. That community habit shows up in the reviews across decades of customers — one wrote about bringing his boys in for the first time and finding "the War40K & CCG guys were very patient with curious little boys," ending the review with a single word: "Community!" Another simply called it the "best comic shop anywhere near Pensacola."
Staff helpfulness comes up repeatedly and specifically. "The staff is great about helping you track down those hard to find items," one customer noted, which is a useful thing to know if you are chasing a particular single or an out-of-print set rather than browsing casually. The selection gets called out in the same breath — "good selection of Warhammer and comics and everything else for your hobby."
The hours are the most collector-friendly in the area and are worth writing down, because they vary by day: 11am to 8pm Monday, 10am to 8pm Tuesday, 10am to 10pm Wednesday, 10am to 9pm Thursday, 10am to 11pm Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 6pm Sunday. New comic day is Wednesday, which is also when the floor is busiest. The North 9th Avenue location has its own lot, and Suite A is the main entrance. If you are coming for cards specifically, a weekday morning gets you counter attention; if you want the room buzzing, come Friday evening.
