About The Shop

Board game cafe inside Concord's Gibson Mill with a 1,700-title library, TCG singles and packs, and a Thursday-through-Sunday-only schedule.

Gibson Mill is a converted textile mill on McGill Avenue, and Suite 80 inside it belongs to Luck Factory Games, billed as the largest board game cafe in North Carolina and the only one for roughly 150 miles. The library alone runs to about 1,700 titles. That scale changes what a visit looks like: people come to stay for hours, not to grab a pack and leave.

For card collectors, the trading card side sits alongside that library rather than behind it. Pokemon and other TCG product moves through the shop regularly, and the community that forms around the tables means singles trading happens organically. The 4.9-star average across 134 Google reviews is unusually high for a business this busy, which says something about how the room is run.

The single most important thing to know before driving over is the schedule. Luck Factory is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It opens at noon Thursday through Saturday and runs until 10:30PM, then noon to 8PM on Sunday. Four days a week is the whole operation, so a midweek trip will find a locked door.

The mill setting is part of the appeal. High ceilings, exposed brick and industrial bones give the space a different feel from a strip-mall game store, and there is enough seating that a group can settle in without competing for a table. Thursday evenings tend to be the most relaxed of the four open days if you want to browse and talk without shouting.

Gibson Mill has ample on-site parking and other tenants worth a look, so pairing a stop here with the rest of the complex makes the drive worthwhile. If you are working through trading cards Concord options in a single day, slot Luck Factory late, when the room is at its liveliest.
