College Road shop running live box breaks alongside a full sports card counter, plus Pokemon and Lorcana for the TCG side of the house.
Ignition Sports Cards runs out of Suite 57 in the College Road plaza, close enough to UNCW that a decent share of the foot traffic is students and close enough to Oleander that it's an easy detour from anywhere in midtown. The layout is tidy and photograph-friendly — cases are lit properly, the walls are merchandised, and nothing feels like it's being stored rather than sold.
The business runs on three legs. First is the retail counter: sealed hobby and retail product across baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and soccer, plus raw singles and slabs. Second is buying and trading — the shop takes in sports cards and memorabilia and is a listed PSA dealer, so grading submissions can go through the store. Third, and the one that gives it a following well beyond Wilmington, is live box breaks. If you've never done one, the staff will walk you through how spots and randomization work before you commit money to it.
Pokemon and Lorcana share shelf space with the sports product, which broadens the audience without diluting the core. It's still fundamentally a sports card shop — the Wilmington collectors coming in for a 1980s baseball run or a modern rookie patch are the regulars.
One practical note: the store closes Sundays entirely and only runs 10am to 4pm on Saturday, so the weekday window of 9am to 7pm is the reliable one. Weekday mornings are quiet; late afternoon fills up.
The unit is wheelchair accessible, cards are accepted, and there's ample lot parking in front. If you're planning to sell, bring the cards sleeved and sorted — it speeds the offer up considerably.
