Duke City Games – DeVargas Center

Before there was a Zafarano flagship, there was this compact storefront inside the DeVargas Center mall on North Guadalupe Street. It opened under the name Twilight Hobbies and Games because locals wouldn't have recognized "Duke City" as an Albuquerque reference, and it was rebranded Duke City Games – DeVargas Center in 2025 once the chain's name carried weight in Santa Fe. The footprint is small and the shelves are dense; reviewers regularly describe it as packed.

Pokemon depth is the calling card. When big-box shelves across northern New Mexico were stripped bare, collectors kept finding booster boxes, elite trainer boxes, and tins here, and more than one Google review amounts to "if you can't find packs anywhere else, go here." Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, Lorcana, and Flesh and Blood fill out the wall, and this is one of the few shops in the region that stocks Cardfight Vanguard and hosts events for it. Sleeves, binders, and deck boxes take up a good stretch of shelf space, making it a reliable supply stop for anyone downtown.

Hours follow mall rhythms rather than gamer rhythms: 11AM to 6PM Monday through Friday, 10AM to 6PM Saturday, and 10AM to 5PM Sunday. That makes it the daytime counterpart to the evening-focused Zafarano store. Pokemon events run on-site, but the room is a tight squeeze for tournaments, so the bigger brackets have moved south.
