Nightmares and Video Games

Horror memorabilia meets Pokemon cards at this East Main Street Springfield shop, where trading card cases share space with retro consoles and collectible toys.

Few card stops in Ohio look like Nightmares and Video Games. Opened in August 2024 on East Main Street, the shop blends horror memorabilia — masks, figures, and movie collectibles — with retro gaming and an increasingly serious trading card operation. Owners lean into the theme, but the card cases are no gimmick: Pokemon has become one of the store's biggest sellers, alongside Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! singles and sealed product.

Sports collectors get real attention here too. The inventory mixes modern wax with vintage sports cardboard, and the shop buys, sells, and trades, so the cases shift week to week. For anyone mapping out trading cards in Springfield, this storefront sits two doors from Starlightzombies Toys & Hobbies, making East Main a convenient double-stop for a Saturday hunt.

The vibe is the draw. Reviewers consistently describe a shop that feels curated rather than warehoused — horror props overhead, glass cases of cards below, and staff who talk collecting like collectors. At 4.6 stars on Google, it has quickly become one of the better-reviewed stops in Clark County despite being one of the newest.

Doors open at 10AM Monday through Saturday, with weekday hours running to 7PM. Sunday is closed, so plan accordingly. If your collecting tastes run from graded Pokemon to VHS-era horror, this is the rare shop that covers both sides of that Venn diagram — and it's exactly the kind of independent storefront that makes a Springfield card shop crawl worth the drive.
