Bend's TCG-only shop with 100k+ singles, Japanese Pokemon cards and Central Oregon's largest free play space, running leagues six days a week.

The Pokemon mural on the storefront gives the name away: E4 is a nod to the Elite Four, and the shop in the Bend River Promenade on N Hwy 97 is the most focused trading card store in Central Oregon. Owner Steve Johnson left an engineering career after building a garage-based bulk Magic business into a Direct-by-TCGplayer seller, and opened the retail floor around 2022. There are no board games, no miniatures and no sports cards here, just cards, sleeves and roughly 1,300 square feet of free play space.

Inventory is the headline. E4 claims more than 100,000 singles on hand, with Magic: The Gathering making up about three quarters of sales and Pokemon close behind, including a dedicated section of Japanese Pokemon singles that is rare for a shop this far from Portland. Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Lorcana, Flesh and Blood and Riftbound round out the cases, and a buylist portal lets you price a collection before bringing it in. The store deliberately caps pack purchases during hot Pokemon releases so local kids and collectors can still find product on the shelf.

The weekly rhythm is fixed enough that regulars plan around it. Tuesday is Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament night, Wednesday is Commander open play with a monthly charity fundraiser, Thursday splits between Modern and Flesh and Blood, Saturday hosts the Pokemon League Challenge and Lorcana League, and Sunday is Commander and Donuts. Entry for prized events sits around five dollars, and loaner Commander precons live behind the counter for anyone who wants to try before buying. The shop also supports after-school Pokemon clubs at local schools.

Hours are unusual: closed Monday, 2PM to 8PM Tuesday through Friday, and 11AM to 7PM on weekends. Forty seats expand to fifty-six on event days, there is a snack bar and free WiFi, and the store is a signed member of the Safe Space Initiative. For Pokemon cards in Bend or a Magic single that nobody else in the region has, E4 is the first call, and the 4.9 average across more than 800 Google reviews suggests most visitors agree.
