Brilliant Stars Sealed Products: Booster Box Prices, Chase Cards & Where to Buy

Feb 2022SWSH09from $3,900.004 sealed products

Brilliant Stars is the February 2022 Sword & Shield expansion that introduced VSTAR cards and the Trainer Gallery subset, and it carries the Charizard V alternate art that remains one of the most recognizable cards of the era. Sealed demand comes from that Charizard, from Arceus VSTAR, and from the Trainer Gallery character cards. Booster boxes were plentiful at retail through 2022, which kept prices tame until the set went out of print, and they have roughly quadrupled since. This page lists every Brilliant Stars sealed product with August 2026 pricing.

Sealed products for Brilliant Stars

Booster Box

Thirty-six ten-card packs at a $143.64 MSRP. Retail supply was strong enough that boxes sat near $110-$130 online into early 2023. As of August 2026, sealed boxes trade at $500-$620, with TCGplayer sales clustering around $560-$600 and eBay a little lower. It is the product to hold if you want exposure to the Charizard V alt art without paying single-card prices.

Elite Trainer Box

The Arceus ETB has eight packs, an Arceus promo, sleeves, dice, energy cards and a box. MSRP was $49.99. Sealed retail ETBs run $150-$190 in August 2026. For a set with a $500-plus box, the ETB is relatively cheap on a per-pack basis, which is why it moves quickly at shows.

Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box

Same packs and promo, with exclusive foil energy and the Pokemon Center logo. Sealed examples trade at $200-$260 and appear less often than the retail box.

Build & Battle Box and Build & Battle Stadium

The Build & Battle Box (four packs, evolution pack, one of four promos, $19.99) sells for $55-$75 sealed. The Build & Battle Stadium, a two-player bundle with two Build & Battle kits plus extra packs and accessories, ran $49.99 and now trades at $130-$170. Both are good value relative to the box if you want to open a few packs.

Blisters

Three-pack blisters (Lucario, Eevee and Deoxys promos) sell for $55-$70 sealed, single-pack blisters for $16-$22 and loose packs for $15-$18. Brilliant Stars did not get a booster bundle; that product type started with Lost Origin.

Chase cards and pull rates

Charizard V alternate art 154/172 leads the set at $180-$280 raw, with PSA 10 copies well above that. Charizard VSTAR rainbow 174/172 sits around $60-$100, and the regular Charizard VSTAR 018/172 is a $20-$35 card. Arceus VSTAR gold 184/172 trades at $50-$80, Arceus V alt art 166/172 at $40-$70, and the gold Ultra Ball 186/172 around $25-$40. The Trainer Gallery adds Charizard V (TG03) and the character-art Shaymin, Mimikyu and Kingdra cards in the $10-$40 range, and TG cards land at roughly one per box, replacing the reverse holo slot in that pack.

Commonly reported rates for Brilliant Stars put an alt art at roughly one per two boxes and the Charizard V alt at roughly one per case or less. A typical box yields three to five V or VSTAR hits, one or two full arts, one secret rare and one Trainer Gallery card.

Is Brilliant Stars worth buying sealed?

At roughly $15-$17 per pack, the expected value of a Brilliant Stars box is below its price, which is normal for an out-of-print Sword & Shield set. What supports the price is the Charizard alt art and the set's role as the first VSTAR expansion. Boxes have moved steadily upward since mid-2024 and did not correct much during the 2025 modern-sealed pullback. Reprint risk is essentially nil for a rotated Sword & Shield set. Compared with Fusion Strike or Evolving Skies, Brilliant Stars is a cheaper way to hold a Charizard-driven box, and the ETB and Build & Battle Stadium are reasonable secondary holds.

How to spot fakes and resealed products

Brilliant Stars boxes use the standard Sword & Shield shrink: clear, snug, with a horizontal back seam and small vent holes. Genuine boxes have two rows of 18 packs, not four rows of nine, and the box art wraps with a slightly glossy finish. Packs have straight crimps with the foil texture running through the crimp; a crimp with a flat, smooth band or a mismatched top and bottom is a resealing tell. ETBs should show the promo card through the front window and the sleeves package intact. Because this set was weighed and resealed heavily in 2022, treat loose packs and single blisters with more suspicion than boxes, and prefer sellers with sealed-product feedback.

Where to buy Brilliant Stars sealed

Local shops that still have 2022 stock often price boxes below eBay. Use the card shop directory to find stores near you and ask what Sword & Shield product they have in back. Card shows are a good place to pick up ETBs and blisters and check the shrink yourself. On eBay, try:
