Jun 2021SWSH06from $3,323.942 sealed products

Chilling Reign, released June 18, 2021, is the Crown Tundra set: Calyrex in both rider forms, the Galarian legendary birds and a much deeper alternate art lineup than Battle Styles had offered three months earlier. It is the set collectors reach for after Evolving Skies when they want SWSH alt arts, and a Chilling Reign booster box has appreciated accordingly. This page covers each sealed product, what it costs in August 2026, the alt arts that hold value, and how to tell a factory box from a rewrap.

Sealed products for Chilling Reign

Booster Box

Thirty-six packs with four pack arts (Ice Rider Calyrex, Shadow Rider Calyrex, Galarian Moltres and Galarian Zapdos), MSRP $143.64. Chilling Reign shipped during the worst of the 2021 allocation shortage, so many boxes went straight to secondary sellers and fewer reached shelves at retail price. Sealed boxes sell for $380–$500 in August 2026, with the bulk of sales between $420 and $470. It sits well above Battle Styles and Vivid Voltage and just under Rebel Clash.

Elite Trainer Box (Ice Rider and Shadow Rider)

Two ETBs shipped, one for each Calyrex form, with eight packs, 65 sleeves, dice, markers, energy and a guide at $39.99. Sealed, both versions run $125–$160, with Shadow Rider generally a few dollars higher. The two arts were produced in roughly equal numbers.

Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box

The Pokemon Center versions of both ETBs add a set of exclusive Calyrex-themed foil energy cards and different box detailing. They sell for $165–$200 sealed, and the Shadow Rider Pokemon Center ETB is the more sought after. Check for the Pokemon Center logo on the front of the box before paying the premium.

Build & Battle Box

Four packs plus an evolution pack with one of four promos (Ice Rider Calyrex V, Shadow Rider Calyrex V, Galarian Moltres V or Galarian Zapdos V), $19.99 at prerelease. Sealed it trades at $60–$80. The Galarian Moltres V promo is the one people hope for.

Blisters and Calyrex V Boxes

Three-pack blisters (Eevee, Snorlax or Galarian Slowbro promos) sell for $40–$55, single-pack blisters for $12–$16, and loose sleeved packs for $10–$14. The Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex V Boxes, each with a V promo, an oversized card and four packs, released at $19.99 and trade at $50–$70 sealed.

Chase cards and pull rates

Chilling Reign has the second-best alt art checklist of the era. Blaziken VMAX alt art (201/198) leads at $330–$380 raw and over $800 in PSA 10, with Galarian Moltres V alt art (177/198) at $175–$200. Galarian Slowking V alt art (179/198) is around $100, Zeraora V alt art (166/198) $80–$90, and the Galarian Articuno and Zapdos V alt arts $40–$70. Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX alt art (205/198) sells for $50–$65 and Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX alt art (204/198) for $35–$45. Snorlax (224/198), a secret rare with a full-scene illustration, is a surprising $95–$115 and one of the more affordable ways to own a Chilling Reign secret people actually want.

Alt arts appear at roughly one per two boxes on community reports, with Blaziken and Moltres each far rarer than that. Boxes reliably produce several full arts and VMAX cards, and the alt art lottery is what supports the sealed price.

Is Chilling Reign worth buying sealed?

At $450 a box, Chilling Reign is priced as a chase-card box, and the contents of an average box will not cover it. What it has going for it is a deep alt art list, a legendary-heavy checklist, and a print run that was constrained by the 2021 shortage rather than inflated by it. It has climbed steadily since 2023 and is often discussed as the set most likely to follow Evolving Skies upward, though from a much lower base and with less certainty. It is a reasonable long-term hold at the low end of the range. Buying at $500 or above requires believing that comparison will hold.

How to spot fakes and resealed products

Chilling Reign boxes are worth enough to reseal, and the Blaziken alt art gives weighers a reason to. A factory box has thin matte wrap with a single seam and small vent holes, and the wrap should be tight with no bunching. Rewrapped boxes usually have glossy, slightly thicker plastic, a wide seam or a seam on the side rather than the bottom. Pack crimps should have straight, evenly spaced ridges; a pack that has been opened at the bottom and re-glued shows a slight wave. Every pack should have a code card. On ETBs, the holographic lid seal must show a rainbow shimmer and be uncut; Pokemon Center ETBs should also have the Pokemon Center logo printed on the box, not stickered.

Where to buy Chilling Reign sealed

Shops that received Chilling Reign allocations in 2021 often still have ETBs and Build & Battle boxes at prices below eBay. Use the card shop directory to find shops near you and ask about SWSH06. Card shows are the best place to inspect a booster box wrap in person before buying. Online:
