Northeast Memphis's longest-running MTG venue, with Friday Night Magic, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh stock, and a community of regulars going back to the 90s.
The Greater Memphis Magic Arena has been a fixture of the Memphis MTG scene for decades, currently operating out of a Highway 64 storefront in northeast Memphis. The shop's name says Magic, and that's still the gravitational center — Friday Night Magic, weekly Commander nights, and pre-release events for every new MTG set are the calendar backbone — but the wall now stocks Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and a smaller selection of sealed for other TCGs.
For a trading cards Memphis player who wants somewhere to sit and play, this is one of the most established options in town. The play space takes up the back half of the shop with multiple tables, and tournaments routinely fill 8-16 players. Singles inventory leans Magic-heavy — pulling a specific MTG card from the binder is usually a yes; pulling a specific Pokemon rare is sometimes a no — but the staff know their market and will point you elsewhere if they can't help.
Owners Joe and Dan run the place hands-on and tend to remember repeat customers. Reviews highlight their willingness to dig through unsorted inventory for specific requests, which is the kind of touch that keeps a 30-year-old shop alive against bigger chains. The shop is straightforward and unpolished — this is a player's shop, not a showroom — and that's exactly the appeal.
Daily 11AM-7PM hours every day of the week make planning easy, and the US-64 location is a quick exit off I-40 in northeast Memphis.
