Sacramento's largest LGS, with weekly Friday Night Magic drafts, massive Pokemon and MTG singles inventory, and miniatures terrain in the back room.
Great Escape Games has been a fixture of Sacramento's tabletop scene for over a decade, occupying a sizable storefront at 1250 Howe Ave. The shop is built for play — long rows of tables run the full length of the back room, and the front of the store is divided between singles counters, sealed product walls, and a robust miniatures section with painted terrain on display.
The inventory rivals anything in the region. Magic: The Gathering singles are organized by set and color, with rare and mythic content sleeved behind the counter. Pokemon singles stretch across modern sets back through Sword and Shield era, with vintage WOTC content available on request. Yu-Gi-Oh, Flesh and Blood, One Piece, and Lorcana each get dedicated space. For Sacramento card shop visitors hunting sealed product, GEG carries the deepest current rotation of Pokemon ETBs, booster boxes, and case-quantity sealed in the area.
Events are the engine. Friday Night Magic with 6:30pm drafts has run for years and packs the room weekly. Pokemon League fires on a regular cadence with both standard and casual flights. Commander nights, Pioneer events, and prerelease weekends round out the calendar. The Discord stays active, and the staff is genuinely welcoming to new players.
Hours run wide — noon to 10pm most weekdays, until midnight on Fridays, and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays. There's parking in the Howe Avenue strip plaza, with easy freeway access via Highway 50. Buy/sell/trade is supported on TCG product; sports cards aren't carried.
