The storefront on 4th Avenue West is narrow enough that first-timers underestimate it, and the single most repeated line in Rogue Robot's reviews is some version of "way bigger inside than it looks." The room runs deep, and the back half is given over to a game room with tables that stay busy.

This is the TCG-forward option in town. Magic: The Gathering leads, with Pokemon close behind, plus Flesh and Blood and Yu-Gi-Oh! rounding out the card wall. Singles live behind the glass at the counter rather than in open bins, so ask for what you want by name. What Rogue Robot does not do is sports wax — if you are hunting hobby boxes of baseball or football, this is the wrong stop and the staff will tell you so. What they do have in volume is Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000, and the shop's own claim to the largest miniatures selection in the area holds up against what customers report driving in from across northern Minnesota to buy.

Around the miniatures sit the supporting cast: paints, brushes and hobby tools, D&D and RPG minis, HeroClix boosters and singles, dice, board games, comics and trade paperbacks, and a shelf of vintage action figures that turns over unpredictably. The shop buys gently used comics and cards over the counter, which is how a lot of that inventory arrives.

Reputation is the real differentiator. Timing matters here more than at most shops: doors open at noon every day, not in the morning, and close at 7PM with a 8PM Wednesday. Sources disagree on whether Tuesday is open, so phone ahead if that is your only window.
