Nick DeAngelis opened The RetroWormhole in April 2021 in a former phlebotomy school on N Central Avenue, and the tagline on the window, Pop. Culture. Curated., is an accurate warning. This is a nostalgia store spanning the 1950s through the 1990s: crates of vinyl, shelves of NES and Sega cartridges, carded action figures, LEGO, Funko Pops and VHS tapes. Pokemon cards sit right in the middle of it, and for a lot of Medford collectors this is where the hobby started or restarted.

The Pokemon selection leans toward what fits the rest of the store. Vintage Base Set through e-Series singles show up in the case alongside current sealed packs and ETBs, and the staff are known for walking newcomers through what to buy first when building a collection. Reviews repeatedly single out how patient the team is with kids and returning adult collectors alike. It is not a tournament venue and does not stock Magic or sports cards; think of it as the place for vintage Pokemon cards in Medford rather than a full TCG shop.

The location is part of the appeal. DeAngelis describes this stretch of N Central as a hobby corridor, and Rogue City Comics sits directly next door at number 32, so a single downtown parking spot covers comics, Magic boosters and Pokemon in one walk. The store operates as Rogue Trading Company LLC, which is why some directories list that name at the same address; it is the same business.

Hours are 11AM to 6PM Tuesday through Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday. Trade-ins of games, toys and cards are accepted, gift cards are available, and the buy counter is a good outlet for anyone clearing out a childhood closet. With a 4.8 average across nearly 250 Google reviews, it has become one of the better-loved storefronts in downtown Medford.
