Medford's main TCG store since 2008, running Friday Night Magic, Pokemon League and Lorcana prereleases, with a card buylist and late Friday and Saturday hours.

Since 2008 Astral Games has been the shop Medford players mean when they say they are going to the card store. It now operates from 827 S Central Avenue after years in a downtown suite a few blocks north, and the move gave the shop more room for the thing it does best: organized play. Friday Night Magic starts at 6:30PM with draft and Standard pods and promo packs, Pokemon League meets weekly, Wednesdays belong to D&D Adventurers League, and Saturdays turn into Warhammer 40K battle nights on the back tables.

The inventory covers the full Rogue Valley card scene. Magic: The Gathering singles and sealed are the deepest, Pokemon TCG gets regular restocks, and Disney Lorcana and Star Wars Unlimited both have dedicated drafts and prerelease events; the Lorcana launch here drew local TV coverage. A standing buylist means Astral will price your Magic and Pokemon collection for cash or credit, and consignment shelves let members sell higher-end items through the store. Members get a discount, and the Discord server is where last-minute event changes get posted.

Astral is also a comic shop with a weekly pull list and a graded-comic case, and it stocks Warhammer, Pathfinder and D&D books, board games and a wall of Re-Ment miniatures, figures and dice. Co-owner Tyler Hill started as a customer buying Magic cards roughly a decade before joining the business, and that player-turned-owner background comes through in how events are run. Once a month the shop hosts a board game night at the Medford library, usually the third Friday.

Hours are 11AM to 7PM most days, extending to 10PM Friday and Saturday for events. A couple of Yelp reviewers note sealed prices above big-box retail, which is common for a store carrying the cost of free play space. For Pokemon cards in Medford or a sanctioned Magic event any given week, Astral is the default, and its 4.7 rating across more than 500 Google reviews reflects a long run of doing the job well.
